Playday is the national day for play in the UK, traditionally held on the first Wednesday in August.
On Playday, thousands of children and their families get out to play at hundreds of free community events usually organised in parks and open spaces across the UK.
Unfortunately, due to a lack of funding, last year’s event at Torkington Park in Hazel Grove, was unable to go ahead, which was a huge disappointment to the local community.
As well as a ‘celebration of children’s right to play’, Playday is a campaign that highlights the importance of play in children’s lives’ and to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of National Playday and the 10th Anniversary of Action for Sick Children’s ‘Dental Playbox® Project’ we have partnered with another local charity, the Together Trust, to pool resources to resurrect this very well attended event. With the additional support and expertise of the Together Trust this event will be more inclusive than ever before and extremely accessible to families with children with a range of additional needs.
